Chris is an insurance defence lawyer with a broad-based practice which includes personal injury, motor vehicle accidents, occupiers liability matters, regulatory matters, and property damage claims. Prior to Carfra Lawton, Chris was in house Legal Counsel with the College of Physicians of Saskatchewan. His extensive experience in reviewing and investigating complaints and claim while at the College,  as well in his prior 20 year career as an investigator and consultant specializing in risk mitigation and corporate litigation support, gives him a strong and unique skill set in investigating and assessing the claims he is acting on in a thorough yet practical manner. Chris has extensive experience appearing before regulatory tribunals, and enjoys advocating for his clients in all settings.

Chris obtained his law degree from the University of Saskatchewan before practicing for four years at College and Physicians of Saskatchewan. He recently moved to beautiful British Columbia and loves all that Victoria has to offer. In his spare time Chris enjoys hiking, cooking, and his two favourites hockey and curling.

  • What is your perfect meal?

Any food and great conversation makes the perfect meal. I have enjoyed many different dining experiences in my life but the best meals have always been during harvest season on my uncle’s farm, eating an amazing meal prepared by my aunt off the end gate of a pickup truck with everyone covered in dust.

  • What is your deepest obsession outside of work?

Too many to list, but three of them are:
    1. Daily learning on most any topic,
    2. Reading and collecting quotes and
    3. Woodworking, particularly joinery.

  • What is your favourite location to travel in BC?

Any hike that takes me into a quiet forest or a fishing trip that takes me where the fish are biting.
