Stuart Wright is building an insurance defence practice in beautiful Victoria. He articled in a small town, where he met lots of fascinating people and acted for some of them in Provincial Court. He enjoys turning his mind to whatever will benefit his clients.
While completing his law degree at the University of British Columbia, Stuart served as assistant editor of the UBC Law Review and won prizes in dispute resolution and First Nations law.
Stuart grew up in Whitby, Ontario. He did some work in life underwriting, studied English at McGill University, and has since lived in Saskatoon, Vancouver, and Williams Lake. After exploring life as a violin teacher, naval reservist, night watchman, barista, receptionist, booking agent, and performer, he took to law and found that an eye for context always counts.
What is your favourite location to travel in BC?
I made sharp, great-hearted friends in the Cariboo and will always be happy to return there, fires or no.
What is your perfect meal?
Something fragrant, served under the stars. If I’m hosting, put in your curry orders.
What is your deepest obsession outside of work?
Dramatic verse and great lighting effects. I hope to direct my way through the Shakespeare canon from most to least obscure, having made a start with Henry VI and Troilus & Cressida. I like acting, too.
