Susan Beach’s litigation practice includes over 25 years of a wide range of litigation including medical malpractice, ICBC personal injury, employment law, human rights, Workers Compensation claims, disability insurance, municipal law and law relating to wild fires. As a former RN with a B.Sc. in Nursing she has an efficient and thorough understanding of clinical records and bodily injury. During her career as a Registered Nurse Susan had the opportunity to work in a variety of departments including Emergency, the NICU, ICU, the Burn Unit, Neurology and Neurosurgery. Her primary focus for many years was Neurology/Neurosurgery, in particular, brain injuries.
She was appointed Team Leader on over 200 files to recover fire suppression costs for the Province which involved negligence, breach of contract and breach of the Forest Practices Code. Topics included cause investigation, negligence and determining fire suppression costs, timber loss and environmental losses.
She looks forward to defending on medical malpractice and ICBC claims as well as continuing her practice of employment, human rights and fire-related claims.
She has appeared before many different tribunals and the Provincial and Supreme Courts and the Court of Appeal.
What is your favourite location to travel in BC?
My favourite local place to sail is Montague Harbour, Galiano Island with its’ exquisite sunsets and white sand it’s as if I am transported to a tropical island.
What is your deepest obsession outside of work?
Sailing, we have a 35 foot older Beneteau sailboat and we enjoy sailing one of the best protected bodies of water in the world right off our beaches.
What is your perfect meal?
Lamb marinated in a Mediterranean marinade with mint sauce, roast potatoes and asparagus, all cooked by my husband!
