Prior to attending law school, Cathy worked in the administrative departments of research funding and major gift development at the University of Toronto Faculty of Medicine for more than 10 years, helping to obtain maximum medical research funding and to develop partnerships between businesses and medical researchers. While a student at U of T, Cathy was a journalist and photographer for the student newspaper. She also participated in the unionization process at U of T, and participated regularly in fundraising activities for the University of Toronto Faculty of Medicine, and the Heart & Stroke Research Foundation of Ontario. Cathy is fluent in Romanian.
Areas of Practice
Cathy articled and initially worked for four years in a general civil litigation firm in Victoria. Her practice included family law, general civil litigation, employment law, real estate conveyances and wills & estates. She has appeared at all levels of court in British Columbia. Since joining Carfra & Lawton in 2007, Cathy has focused her practice in the area of insurance defence litigation, in which she acts for a variety of insurers in the defence of personal injury and property damage claims.
