Giles is a member of the Victoria Bar Association and the Greater Victoria Cycling Coalition. He is a keen cyclist and yachtsman. He completed a 3,900 nautical mile trans-Atlantic sailing voyage and played in three Ultimate World Championships for Australia and Canada.
He practiced law in Queensland, New South Wales and England prior to being called in Ontario in January 2006. He has worked with four sets of court rules and has developed an understanding of differing approaches to civil procedure.
Giles has conducted both jury and non-jury motor vehicle accident trials involving personal injury in the Superior Court of Ontario as lead counsel.
Areas of Practice
Giles has developed extensive experience in insurance defence litigation, with a focus on personal injury arising out of motor vehicle accidents. He has also worked on other personal injury matters, property losses, construction cases, and bad faith litigation.
Likewise, Giles has a background in commercial litigation, contractual disputes, and defamation in Australia and Canada.
