In 2002, Leslie served as President of the Victoria Bar Association. She is a past executive Member of the Victoria Bar Association, member of the Provincial Council of British Columbia with the Canadian Bar Association, and past chairperson of the British Columbia Young Lawyers Subsection.
She has written for a publication allied with the insurance industry, and appeared as a presenter on insurance and medical-legal issues for various professional organizations. In addition, she has acted as practitioner-coach with the University of Victoria, Faculty of Law Moot Team, and as liaison between the Victoria Bar Association and the Provincial Court of British Columbia in Victoria regarding the implementation of new Small Claims Court procedures. Leslie has also been a Judge for the Canadian Figure Skating Association.
Areas of Practice
Leslie has practiced law at Carfra & Lawton since her call to the bar in 1987. Her litigation focuses primarily on the defence of health law claims on behalf of hospitals and other health related organizations, as well as in the areas of insurance law and personal injury. She has appeared at all levels of court in British Columbia, as well as at Inquests and at various administrative tribunals. Leslie is a trained mediator.
