Areas of Practice
Neil articled and initially worked in a general practice law firm in Victoria before joining Carfra & Lawton as an associate in 1997. He has been a partner since 2002.
Neil’s practice has consisted of general litigation in various areas in all levels of court in British Columbia, and in the Federal Court of Canada. Currently, he primarily focuses on most aspects of insurance law, including defense of property and casualty, professional and employment liability claims for municipalities, schools, hospitals and a variety of other clients; auto claims; building envelope failure and other construction liabilities; subrogation and advising on coverage. Neil is a proponent of mediation and other forms of alternative dispute resolution in appropriate cases.
Neil’s professional interests extend beyond litigation and into risk management. To further this, he attained his CRM designation. Neil represents the firm within the Risk Management Counsel of Canada, a national association of independent industry, risk retention groups and self-insureds.
Neil provides legal services through Neil C. Carfra Law Corporation.
